The Bridport Prize
The Bridport Prize is an annual international creative writing competition for poetry and short stories. The closing date for entries, which may either be sent by post or online is 30th June. The Bridport Prize is one of the top prizes of its kind in terms of both prestige and prize money. It has been the first step in the careers of many established poets and novelists. The prize money totals £14000.

Havant Literary Festival
25 Sept - 4 October 2009
The objective of Havant Literary Festival is to establish an annual celebration for the written and spoken word in the Borough of Havant.

The 2009 line up will feature amongst others, Fay Weldon, Stella Duffy, Maggie Gee, Michael McCarthy,Ian Whybrow, Sandra Horn and Louis de Bernieres and the Antonius Players.

The programme includes theatre, talks, signings, poetry, music, walks, word art, children's events, exhibitions - even a poet in a shed. There are also adult and children's short story and poetry competitions.
